Well, I no longer own the models from those early articles, all went to other collectors. I started over five years ago beginning by what I was fancying the most : the Pre war Dinky Toys and especially the 24 series, and until recently I never thought of getting Minic models again. I had had so nice models, prices had rose a little...
I like Minics, I've always like those toys, the richness of the colours used, the scale, and the material used for their manufacture that retains the vibreness of their painting and which is light and strong. As real cars Minics only fear the rust !
They are fun to collect and are a good compromise in the collection of sheet metal toys, for we are very far from the prices of larger scales of the same period, you can buy more and above all display more in your window.
Let's start with the Coupé de Ville, it's a 1st series copy from somwhere between 1935 and 1939, without petrol can on the running board but a nice rear rack and a fully working engine. The tyres may have perished and be changed at some time.
The other model is perhaps the most sought after of all Standard grille Minic models with hollow / slush casted Taylor and Barrett Passengers. Bearing rounded wings, it's definitely a 2nd series and the petrol can can be seen on the running board.
Mr and Mrs, the chauffeur and the little daughter as footman
It's a very fine copy with original hardened tyres, a rather lazy but working engine, and it came boxed as a set with an electric caravan that was missing. I am therefore looking for a matching stone and dark red electric caravan which is not really rare but as always, it's when you're looking for something that you can't find it... Well Time is money and so I'm wealthy !
