Introduced in 1934 with the seven other models of the glorious 24th serie, the tourer (aka four seater), reproduces perfectly the spirit of the pre war sport car which remained untill the MG T was deleted in the 50's
That 24g is believed to be based upon the Morris Sports special Four-Seat relaesed in 1934 althoug it's commonly admitted that the 24 serie never tried to reproduce existing cars, therefore one can imagine everything about the brand of this one.
It comes from the secund criss cross base casting in an outstanding condition, besides a blow in the front seat, the casting is really sound and the chassis barely shows a little cracking (which I hadn't noticed before watching the pictures for this section).
If you're reading this blog for some time you'll be able to see what decided my immediate purchase !!! Yes you got it ! Darn blue hubs ! I once read on a web forum a guy writting about the too bright colours of the pre war Dinkies, said it looked cheap and post war's free of the colourful hubs (for instance), where at last something that could be reliable...
Man ! Go get some Bburagos and leave the real thing to those who love it !!!
Here you can watch the perfect scheme of the Binns rd. factory, blue brown and yellow
This copy is an interesting one as it already has the later windscreen produced from 1937 to ... 1950 but is still fitted with the royal blue hubs that were first issued with the 30 series in 1935, and deleted at the time of the launching of the 36 series in 1938.
The female driver although not period, matches well with it
Looking at the prices in the thirties, we can see that the tin plate wind screen
increased the price of 3d. compared to other models 24. Nowadays it doesn't
mean anything anymore.
